Plantronics Explorer 340

Plantronics Explorer 340Bluetooth headset from Plantronics

With more than 7 hours of battery life, you’ll be able to handle a busy workday on the phone and you can be sure this headset won't fail you. The ease of use, the control and capability of this headset allows it to work with pretty much any device.

The comfort factor is an issue with this headset. The earbud comes in one size only and provides a very uncomfortable fit. There are no inserts or pads to change the shape/size. The ear coil is hard plastic and doesn't always fit properly in the ear.

This Plantronics headset is pretty good at what it does. It works as advertised: it gives good sound with good reception, and has a very good battery life. It’s not the most comfortable headset around, though.

Plantronics Explorer 340 – Just the Right Size

Bluetooth headset from Plantronics

This headset is a sleek-looking unit. It looks long but it tapers so you don't notice it much when it's clipped to the ear. The headset has an actual earbud insert, which means hearing is never a problem.

The Plantronics Explorer 340 headset has one control button: a multi-function that acts as an on/off switch, call, hold or reject button, and a volume control. It’s easy to use, and works very well with all the functions of the headset. Also, the internal rechargeable battery gives over 7 hours of talk time while recharging in fewer than 5.

Pairing the headset to a phone works like a charm. It should connect to any Bluetooth enabled cell phone or PDA running Bluetooth 1.1 or 1.2. The Bluetooth reception range is about 30 feet maximum, which means you can be a decent distance away from your cell phone and the headset will still work. The mic has noise reduction capabilities, so wind noise is reduced and you can be heard when in a car or crowded place.

The main drawback would have to be the comfort level of the Plantronics Explorer 340. The earbud tends to put pressure on your ear canal and starts to hurt after a while. No adjustment is provided, it’s just a hard plastic nub. So be prepared for discomfort, especially if your ear tends to get irritated easily. This discomfort can be limiting if you need to wear the Plantronics Explorer 340 headset for a long stretch of time.
