Not worth the cash, spend a little more and get a better model.
Sure, this is an inexpensive headset, but I still expected a
few things more for my money, and sadly, those expectations weren’t met. I'm
hesitant to use the phrase defective by design because technically, the
headset microphone works well (for its price).
Audio quality is good on both the earpiece and the
microphone, and I was able to use the microphone effectively with a speech
recognition program but that’s about as far as this headset’s good qualities
go.
Unfortunately, the design flaws outweigh any actual performance.
For some reason there’s no mute switch or volume control on this headset. This
is pretty standard for all new headsets and why the manufacturer decided not to
include one is beyond me. However, for this reason, about 95% of people won’t
be able to use this product in an office setting.
The four-foot cord is also a huge problem. Four feet may be
enough for attaching this to a wireless phone that you have clipped to your
belt, but I can't imagine it being useful for much else (even attaching it to a
wired base station). I personally wouldn’t like to have a separate headset for
both my computer and telephone, and when I tested this with my computer I had
to lean quite close to the box. Nowadays, most people use Bluetooth headsets
with their phones, so for a traditional wired headset to pose any sort of
competition, it has to be a multi-tasker and offer great features. Obviously, that’s not the case here.
I was happy with the included lapel clip, and wish more
manufactures would include them. Unfortunately, a lapel clip will not make up
for an astonishing lack of features. Really, how hard could it have been to
include 2 extra feet of cord?
