Sony PS2 USB Headset

Sony PS2 USB HeadsetUSB headset for Playstation 2.

Excellent versatility makes this a great buy. Additionally, the quality of the microphone is quite good, especially for an inexpensive headset. The inline volume control and mute button features are very convenient.

Very little. Users accustomed to more expensive headphones may be disappointed with the audio quality on this headset, but it’s not bad at all.

The Sony Playstation 2 USB headset is a great little headset that offers a host of options that come with more expensive headsets, but at a fraction of the price. Its cross-platform versatility adds even more to the value, giving quite the bang for your buck.

Sony USB Headset: Great Extras at a Great Price

The Sony Playstation 2 USB headset is a great little headset that offers a host of options that come with more expensive headsets, but at a fraction of the price. Its cross-platform versatility adds even more to the value, giving quite the bang for your buck.

From time to time (most gamers will understand this), you sometimes get frustrated with a game you’re playing. During times like these, there’s a high probability you will toss your headset to the ground in frustration. After one too many tosses, my headset finally gave up. Now it’s time to find a worthy (and hopefully durable) replacement.

I like multitasking and I like my devices to multitask, as well, so I didn’t want to buy a separate headset for both my computer and PS2. The standard USB connection on the Sony PS2 USB Headset allows me to use it on my Playstation and computer.  Definitely a point in its favor.

Other commendable features of the PS2 headset include its inline volume control and mute switch. The volume control is pretty standard on most multimedia headsets, but the mute switch goes above and beyond, definitely adding value to the headset. The mute switch is especially useful when using the headset on my computer for VOIP or voice dictation. I can’t fully express how handy it is to just press a mute button rather than issue the mute voice command when someone starts talking to me. The included clip also keeps the control in a convenient and easily accessible location.

The quality of the microphone is also very good. Its noise canceling technology actually works and I’ve found myself issuing fewer correct commands in Dragon Naturally Speaking.

On the video game front, there really isn’t much to say. It works like my old headset and I didn’t have any problems. The Sony PS2 headset does, however, have a longer cord (10 feet) and a more comfortable headband.

The Sony PS2 headset offers great functionality, especially if you’re in the market for a new headset. However, I wouldn’t necessarily scrap your current one for the Sony PS2 USB Headset if it already works well.
